Going it alone?
If you’re thinking of going it alone with your evaluation, take a couple of minutes to check this is the right route for you.
There are two main reasons why project managers come to me for help with their evaluations: either they are short of time, or expertise, or sometimes both.
How much time and expertise do you have available?
Whether you need a few hours advice on your evaluation plan, hands-on help to get feedback from users, or a full, independent project evaluation, take a few moments to estimate how much time and expertise you and your people have available. Use the following scales to gauge roughly where you stand with time and expertise.

If you’re short of time or expertise or unsure what you have available, and you decide to go it alone, your evaluation is likely to go adrift; if it gets off the ground at all.
My free Evaluation Checklist ‘What’s involved in evaluating a small project?’ gives an overview of what evaluation involves in just two pages. It will help you consider more closely the time and resources needed for your evaluation.
To get my Evaluation Checklist, and also receive my ezine ‘Evaluation Tips’, which sends a link to tips on an aspect of evaluation into your inbox each fortnight, please sign up in the box at the top of the page.
